Using algorithm instead intuition stays an interesting field of research, currently being problematic (and it might stay so) for the fact that encoding cultural and intuitive aspects of design into mathematics is very difficult.
For this reason sometimes we try to create hybrid solutions, custom made "software" that helps to design but does not decide rather generates variations, and design stays balanced between our interactive choice and the encoded mathematics.
