A készülék tehát kis átalakítással hatalmas lehetőségeket rejt magában, tág felhasználói kör igényeit kielégítve.

Kiállítási tárgyként két lámpa imitált interakcióját figyelheti meg a néző. A két világítótest egymásra néz, rátekint a nézőkre, különböző gesztusokat írnak le, ezáltal úgy tűnik, mintha antropomorf tulajdonságokkal rendelkeznének.

Hogyan működik?

A kereskedelmi forgalomban kapható íróasztali lámpa minden egyes csuklópontjába szervómotorokat szereltünk. A karokhoz és a lámpabúrához rögzített motorok a lámpát a kívánt helyzetbe állítják. A motorok a vezérlő jeleket Arduinoról kapják, amelyhez fényérzékelő, és kamera is kapcsolható. A fényérzekelők, vagy kamerák figyelik az asztalra, egy bevilágított területre vetülő árnyékokat, ennek megfelelően változtatja a program a motorok, s ezáltal a lámpa pozícióját, a bevilágított felület nagyságát, színét.

The Mllamp project is an experiment for simulating emotions by putting minimal intelligence into everyday objects. The viewer can more easily identify himself with an object of anthropomorphic character, and thus recognise human gestures in it. The interaction between the pair of Mllamps associated with human behaviour can be recognised as emotions in lamps.

Our aim

Within the framework of SmartHome project, we attempt to create funny objects, or objects which make our daily life easier. We transform articles for personal use by extending and supplementing their original function with the help of technology. On the one hand, Mllamp is a funny object, which is similar to the one everyone has at home, and it is a useful tool, on the other. We have endowed an object with emotions through slightly changing it so that the user may have a more intimate relationship with it: he may regard it as a house pet, which responds to its master and shares his joy and sorrow. But Mllamp is also a source of light which provides perfect lighting for your workspace. This device thus opens up new prospects by meeting the demands of a wider number of users.

Jelenlegi állapot

A két lámpa botkormányról vezérelten működik, de előre beprogramozott mozgásmintákat is képes visszajátszani. A két lámpa egymással kommunikál, játszik, szavak nélkül beszélget. A fényszenzor vagy kamera felszerelésével szeretnénk önműködően irányba forduló fényforrást készíteni.

Seen as a work of art, the viewer observes the interaction between this pair of Mllamps, which may be considered as an intelligent act. These luminous bodies look at one another, glance at the viewer, and make various gestures.

How does it work?

We have fitted a commercial reading lamp with steering-engines. The engines attached to the lamp-bracket and the lampshade set the lamp in the desired position. The engines are controlled by an Arduino microcomputer, which can be connected with light sensors and cameras, as well. The light sensors or cameras watch the shadows cast on the table, and the computer modifies the position of the engines and thus that of the lamp, and the dimensions and colour of the illuminated surface.

Current state

Mllamps are stick-controlled, but they can also reproduce programmed motion patterns. When exhibiting them, we will use special motion patterns to imitate an interaction between them, as if they were playing with and talking to one another. Future plans include equipping the lamps with a light sensor or a camera, so that they set themselves in the right direction automatically.
