The idea of the remote controlled mixer is parallel with wired or wireless audio controllers. In this fall we plan a controller which routes not only the control messages (such OSC or MIDI), but the audio signal too – a conjuction between JACK audio server and OSC. The control method differs from other projects in the democratic attitude of let the source control each other sources' parameters.
Mixer goals in the actual state
– to constuct a remote accessible audio controller for network music projects such share.dj
– to make equal the role of the (local) audio source and the (remote) mixer interface, let musicians control and use each others' sound
– let more musicians play together, with the possibility of manipulate each others' audio material via cue selection
Mixer accidental goals
– to use uncompressed data through lan with minimal latency
– to migrate other Kibu project such "mobile jam"
Howto works
The mixer source panel routes the audio input (such the others's source manipulated, the external sound input, MaxMSP native output, Jack source etc) as selected to the host, and receives the cue (monitor) signal. Control possibilities:
– self source on / off
– self source volume level
– others' source on / off
– others' source volume level
– cue selection
– ip/port address to the server
