Meglévő mobilunk tehát a zsebünkben lapul, azon keresztül telefonálhatunk a tárcsás készülékkel. Egyszerűen új külsőt és kezelőszerveket kölcsönözhetünk mobilunknak.

Our aim

On combining a cell phone with a rotary dial phone, my original aim was to create a surprise: a curious-looking, funny object. My bakelite mobile phone was perfect for two reasons: rotary dial phones look outdated today as a result of the rapid progress of telecommunication. The image we hold of them includes the environment in which they functioned: the corner of a table or bureau, and the cord that was always too short, which would come out of the wall or knock the phone from its place. Placing them in a modern setting while maintaining their original function, the result may give us a surprise. After the initial shock, it might well make us reflect on the relationship between the old and the new, and rethink the notions of obsoleteness and modernity.

How does it work?

This retro designed cell phone contains an Arduino microcomputer with a Bluetooth connection, an A/D converter using frequency modulation, and a chip for sound recording. The microcomputer decodes the movements of the rotary wheel, converts them into figures, identifies the number of figures dialed, and creates a series of characters accordingly, which is then sent to the phone via Bluetooth connection. Sound transmission is done by the A/D converter. You can use the device with a Bluetooth cell phone and a Bagi-T-Fon

Jelenlegi állapot

Minden tárcsás készüléktől megszokott funkció működik: kagyló fel és letételével bonthatjuk a kapcsolatot, illetve kezdeményezhetjük a hívást. A kagyló felemelésekor tárcsahangot is hallunk. Ezután a kívánt számot betárcsázva már létre is jön a kapcsolat.

headset. The rotary cell phone is in fact a special headset connected wirelessly to your mobile phone, which enables you not only to transmit sounds, but to dial a number. Switching off the ring-tone on your cell phone, the rotary dial phone will make the traditional ringing sound. So you can use the dial phone with your mobile in your pocket but still active. Thus, you have simply redesigned your cell phone with a new operating surface.

Current state

Every function of a rotary dial phone is available. You can connect and disconnect by lifting and hanging up the receiver. Upon lifting the receiver and getting the dial-tone, you can connect by dialing the desired number.
