Zooming Table

Zooming Table

Zooming Table is an intelligent conference table designed to track the events taking place on the table. It tracks the movement of the files placed on the table and displays them on a screen on a large scale, so that everybody around the table is able to follow the matter in question. Concurrently, the real time image of the table can be seen online, so one can select any object and link information, operative words, and notes with it. The entire course of the conference is recorded so that it can be traced back later.

Our aim

Our original aim was simply to project our conference table during a meeting, and while trying to find a solution, many new ideas began to surface, which we all began to execute. And thus, the first one-night project of KiBu was born. The first prototype was already ready to be used at our meeting the following day. This system allows for much more effective communication during conferences, and it automatically creates visual notes to the discussions.

How does it work?

The conference table is watched by a camera from above, and the image data are processed by a computer. It calculates the current position of the files on table on the basis of their movement, and subsequently produces their large-scale picture. The system can be controlled through an online surface, where it is also possible to do the labelling and the arrangement of notes and additional information.

Current state

The current prototype is constructed with a low-resolution camera to track movement and find files. Further development is needed to improve the online system and the quality of the projected image so that the files may be read on the screen as well.
